I am not so sure about this......if we do this we need to state the actual contest specifications.  Are we basing this off of whose dog brings back the most actually?Huh  I would shave my head before I would do that to my poor dog.

Plus if we follow through...if (key word)...the winner should get to do the buzzing.

You 3 can pick 3 judges and we'll do this !  All on video of course Grin

The three of us will have to dicuss this better....lucky for me though my dog has an attitude and will steal a bird from a dog and then bring it back.  And Kyles dog will whoop Richies dog...then it will be a two dog contest.lol

Our waterfowl hunting doesn't get any easier around here.....with all the apartments and condo complexes with protected ponds the birds have way too many safe places.

I think each dog should be taken out alone for maybe.... 2 or 3 hunts streched out over a few weeks. You could hunt Richies dog one day then Matts, so on until each dog has gone out the same number of times.... This Matts dog aint bullyin lol. sorry Matt.    Then take the average number of ducks that are retrieved by the dog with little or no instruction.  See whos dog is better consecutively, cause well know they have good days an bad days.   This way your gettin an average of what they are capable of.   Sounds a little in depth, but if your gonna do, do it right.

Won't work well that way since there might be twice as many birds shot one day with one dog and then the dogs won't get the same chances.  I trained my dog to do what it takes to bring me the most birds for a competition just like this....lol

haha  "If you aint playin to cheat, You aint playin to win"   I see what your saying, an I thought about that.  thats why you do more than just one hunt, and span em out.  could even go to different locations..... I have a marsh that even my dog could look good in LOL.    but its just an option of one way to do it.

I am not sure if we will even get to the competition really.  Our dove season opens September 1st which is the same day as Kentuckys deer archery opener.....I will be in Ky as often as I can going after a Bluegrass buck.

Just an idea here fellas, but what if next spring, after all the deer seasons are through, and before the turkey seasons start, we all get together at a shooting preserve and do a "get-together" hunt. Bring your dogs, make a little competition event, even get some video footage of the dogs at work. For some of the site members who don't have a dog, we could pair them up with those of us who do. It would be a great way to have a meet and greet, and see each others dogs in action. Think it over, and let me know what you all think.

I haven't seen a dvd, but Petco and Petsmart carry breed specific training books. There's a series Called Labrador Retrievers for Dummies. I'm not insulting your intelligence, but they make good tools, especially if you are unfamiliar with the breed.
